For over a decade, Beanstalk has been creating incredible student experiences. Think of us as your new partners. |
The People behind the faces behind the magic...
Joel HilcheyExecutive PRoducer & CEOJoel is an ideas guy. His gift seems to stem from a strange combination of observation, insight, and blatant disregard for conventional thinking.
He's also a juggler (literally and figuratively). In addition to leading the Beanstalk Creative team, he maintains a busy schedule as a keynote speaker, creating unforgettable spectacles on stage. He's the father of 3 kids, 2 of whom co-habitated a uterus, and he attempts to be a good husband. Joel has authored 3 books, (2 of them with Brandon), and he taught engineering for over a decade at McMaster University, where he was named one of the Top 150+ Alumni. He formerly chaired the board of the world-renowned Hamilton Children’s Choir, and he's a semi-competitive joggler (that's right... juggling whilst jogging). Joel is almost certainly the best barbershop quartet singer on the team. |
Brandon LoveDirector of EducationBrandon leads the design and delivery of Beanstalk's live programs. When he’s on the stage, Brandon's been described as an "inspirational wizard". He really does make magic. More importantly though, he shows people that they can make magic.
An expert in creativity, he authored two books (with Joel): Brainsprouting & Teaching Creativity. He's a legit member of the Academy of Magical Arts at the World Famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, California. He’s taught high school, and also university. He’s even taught teachers. Along the way, Brandon also formally studied education, psychology, philosophy, hypnosis, and yoga. While it's never been formally contested, Brandon frequently mentions he has the best karate skills on the team. |
Chelsea DuckworthGeneral ManagerChelsea is usually people's first point of contact with Beanstalk. She comes from a big family, which is probably why she's so good at being helpful. In fact, if you find yourself talking with her, consider yourself lucky, because a) she's really kind, and b) you can rest assured that she'll help you get what you need.
On a personal note, Chelsea likes golf, and she dreams of hitting a hole in one. But for now, client feedback saying "she knocked it out of the park" will have to suffice. (...even though in golf, that's usually bad.) According to her 5-month old nephew, she's the coolest aunt on the team. |
Eric ArdilaCreative DirectorEric is the technical genius behind the polished videos that Beanstalk puts into the world. Watching Eric edit video is like watching a professional dancer do acrobatics.
In fact, Eric is a professional dancer who does do acrobatics. Or at least, he was. And did. He was a semi-finalist on Canada’s Got Talent, he’s a choreographer, and he’s even danced with famous folks like Celine Dion (not to name drop...). Anyway, Eric sees video as a dance to be choreographed, and he's a pro. He's probably the third or fourth-best dancer on the team. |
Dayna MuggeridgeExecutive Assistant & Accounts ManagerDayna is really good at math, but unlike Joel, she's not annoying. She's so good at math, in fact, that she kept studying math for years after she could have stopped. While millions of math students around the world were asking "When will I ever use this stuff?", Dayna was busy using numbers to advise the folks in charge at University of Waterloo on how to run the place.
And then she had 3 kids and moved to Thunder Bay, which created the perfect opportunity to work with Beanstalk. Dayna is the second-best dancer on the team. |
